About the Foundation
Thinkers Foundation is an independent review devoted to economics, moral politics, and philosophy. It exists for a single purpose: to put thinking itself into public view, in the conviction that an argument is worth more to a reader than a conclusion.
Most writing that reaches a general audience arrives with its reasoning removed. Positions are announced, figures are cited, and the intervening labour, the definitions accepted, the alternatives weighed and set aside, the concessions that a serious case is obliged to make, is left on the workshop floor. The Foundation publishes the labour. A piece earns its place here by showing how it arrived somewhere, and by remaining intelligible to a reader who has never opened a textbook on the subject.
The review is not a personal journal and does not function as one. It carries no proprietor's column, and no contributor holds a standing claim on its pages. What appears is selected on the merits of the argument alone, and work dissenting from what has already been published is welcome on precisely the same terms as work extending it.
Articles are gathered under four headings. Economics treats prices, incentives, measurement, and institutions. Moral Politics treats liberty, obligation, justice, and authority as questions of conduct. Philosophy treats method, language, and the standards by which a claim earns assent. Miscellaneous carries what belongs to none of these and would be diminished by being forced into one.
Alongside the articles the Foundation maintains the Political Thought Guide, a standing work of reference covering six eras of political philosophy from the Greek polis to the present. The guide is descriptive rather than argumentative, and is kept deliberately separate from the articles so that neither is mistaken for the other.
Submissions
Articles, review pieces, and research notes are read year-round. There is no fixed length, though most published work runs between fifteen hundred and four thousand words, and no requirement of academic affiliation. Clarity is preferred to credentials, and a well-defended minority position to a fashionable one loosely held.
